Even though this request of Imran came as a surprise to Katrina kaif, she is not very proud of slapping him so many times but she definitely is happy about the slaps being completely real and authentic. Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun Facing Censor Trouble

Director of movie on homosexual relationships “Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyun” Sanjay Sharma is facing censor trouble, says his aim is to make people aware that there’s nothing abnormal about one being homosexual.

“Through this movie I wanted to bring out the relationship between these characters. How they feel, their emotions… My aim is not to make fun of them. It was a big challenge for me dealing with this subject. I’m happy that at least I gave it a shot,” Sharma, whose film has been screened at a few international film festivals, told IANS in an interview.

“I want to send a message through my movie that homosexuals are also human beings. They are not abnormal. So people shouldn’t see them with a different perspective. Like we love, even they love. It’s very important to create this awareness,” Sharma added.

Written by the director’s brother Kapil Sharma, who is also acting in the movie, “Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyun” tells the story of a serious relationship between two men. The film also stars Yuvraj Parashar, Helen, Zeenat Aman, Rituparna Sengupta, Kabir Bedi, Tara Sharma and Asha Sachdev among others.


The movie has been showcased at the Trikone Queer Film Festival (Australia), I View (New York) and Indian Film Festival of London but faces some problems with the censor board in India that wants a few scenes deleted before it releases Oct 29.

“Right now the issue is with the revising committee. They want us to delete some portions, but according to me they are important for the film. So we are trying to convince them. No final decision has been taken till now,” director Sharma explained.

What made him get two yesteryears actresses - Zeenat Aman and Helen - on board?

“Zeenat Aman fitted the role very well. When we were scripting the movie, the first thing that came to our mind was to approach her for this role… because if your casting is right, 50 percent of your job is done,” Sharma said.

Peepli Live had a lot of expectations, coming from Aamir Khan’s production. And was it as good as it seemed when we first saw Peepli’s promos? It is the début movie of journalist-turned-director Anusha Rizvi. Yup, you read it right. Peepli is this bold chick’s first movie. And, she wrote the script herself. I had considered this fact more than anything else before writing an honest review of the movie, not giving into my usual character of being a devout Aamir Khan.

Peepli live essentially takes a “lively peep” at some very disturbing issues in India. It tackles the serious issue of farmer suicides, vote bank politics and the sensation crazy TRP hungry media channels. It also takes a look at how bureaucrats manipulate the woes of the common man to their advantage. Quite a mouthful of themes eh? At first thought, these ideas usually paint a serious picture and make you want to ditch the idea of watching the movie. However, this is Aamir Khan – a marketing genius who has shown a weirdly accurate knack of what works in Bollywood. So instead of a boring, preachy documentary, what we get is a bone tickling satire about how the media stoops to inhuman levels to ‘cover’ the plight of a farmer.

After making a film on legendary American pilot Amelia Earhart, Mira Nair is planning her next. And this time, her protagonist will be a Pakistani man who lets go of his life of fame in America after a failed love affair and the 9/11 attacks. And the filmmaker has already chosen the one who will play that protagonist: Shahid Kapoor.

Nair’s film is based on Mohsin Hamid’s second novel, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, which was published in 2007 and was an instant bestseller. The lead role is thus quite a challenging yet prestigious offer for Shahid, who will be acting in an international film for the first time.

Apparently, Mira was keen on casting either Shahid or Ranbir Kapoor for the role of the protagonist, who is a bearded man called Changez in the novel. Our source said, “Between Ranbir and Shahid, Mira felt that Shahid had the intensity that the character required. While immensely appreciative of Ranbir’s talent, Mira thought that Shahid was better suited for this role.”

We wonder if Shahid’s intense double role in Kaminey won him his brownie points.
